Can you recommend a great, multi-functional theme for a scholarship?

    1. My favorite multi-functional themes on this collection are Statfort, King Power, and Academy. Thy can be used for any education related website thanks to their built-in visual page builders. Make sure to check theme demos to understand what these themes are capable of. Also feel free to ask any specific questions about these themes and I will be happy to help. If you have some specific idea how your website should function please describe it and will try to provide you with even more accurate suggestions.

      1. Scott McLain says:

This is a great collection but I am a bit overwhelmed. I am looking for sleek template that I can offer video based courses that purchasers can jump into at any time vs. a strict start and finish date. I would also like to have a membership fee option as well as a per course option. Impeccable visual design and intuitive use are the most important to me. Suggestions?

        1. Scott,

You are looking for LMS (learning management system) style theme and I can recommend ones that comes with LearnDash support such as these themes. Any of these themes will get the job done and you just need to choose the one you like the most from design perspective.

          1. Ellen Perry says:

            Hi Algars,
I am looking for a WP site for a client who’s teaching English to Russian speakers. Her website is very content heavy and she posts a lot of instructional videos. Her website needs an update and her Ukrainian developer recommended Avada. I tried for 2 weeks to make it work but failed miserably. I have several years experience in web design but I couldn’t stand trying to get all her content in those little boxes. Anyway, I am going to go thru this list but wondering if you could recommend the most user friendly LMS for this usage? I think themes like Avada are for fashion and products, not for learning, right? Thanks in advance for your advice.
            Ellen

            1. Ellen,

Avada has drag & drop page builder which is very similar to one that’s been used for every single multipurpose WordPress theme. If page builders are not for you it might be very tricky for you to use any advanced theme including LMS themes since many of them also comes with drag & drop page builder called Visual Composer. I really don’t want to make any suggestions for you as you will always face the same page builder experience.

          2. Hi, i am looking for WP site for setting up music school with plugins for online shop, donate/sponsorship. school community forum, links for youtube download, advert placement, student registration, programs, live chat, news, enquiry form, teachers information storage, recital/concert information, programs, etc. with search engine optm and all browser friendly. And security. Furthermore how can i get it install, lunch and mange.

            1. Victor,

You might use any of above listed themes but you will need loads of plugins to create a website like that. Themes are all about design and plugins provides functionality. So you will need WooCommerce for shop, PayPal for donations, Contact Form 7 for enquiry form, bbPress for forum and so on. If you care about security we recommend using a good hosting provider such as these and combine it with Sucuri for additional security.
For basic WordPress setup you can follow this detailed guide.

        Hi,

I need a Theme to sell courses. The hole platform and LMS I already have. The “Academy” seemed to be the best, but with plenty more things in there. Do you recommend others to sell courses?

        Thank You

    Great Collection.

I’m thinking of wplms, it looks really good…have you had experience using it to create course content? We will have unpaid courses, but the users still must register. Will this theme work well for an unpaid course? Thanks! Niki

    1. Selva,

Click on “More info” button below theme you want to purchase and proceed with purchase on developer website. If you have some specific theme in mind I can guide through the entire process as each theme developer have different approach for selling themes but purchasing is definitely not going to be the hardest part here.

  6. Rahul Ydav says:

Very good collection. I have Grand College and it is perfect. Thanks for taking the time collecting these themes.

    1. Rahul,

      Thank you for your feedback!

Grand College looks like a solid theme and there are many education websites out there that uses similar layout. By using this theme you can be sure that users are going to be familiar with this kind of layout and they won’t get confused with its UI. However, this theme might not be the right one if you are looking for some cool features such as parallax scrolling, full screen background images and videos and other. These features are nice to have but these days every webmaster choose this kind of themes even though these effects doesn’t fit their corporate language.

All in all, Grand College is still a great choice for schools and colleges but might not be for everyone.

  7. Well done 😀 I am looking for a theme to give online guitar lessons. Some lessons will be free and others paying. Nothing complicated but with a Paypal solution. Suggestions for this need? Thank you !!

    1. Louis,

It really depends how you want your website to function. You can create it as simple as regular blog with PayPal button embedded in posts and you will get notified on email when payment is received and from there you can do whatever you want with contact you have just received.

You can go slightly more advanced and use something like Restrict Content Pro with any WordPress theme out there. This plugin allows you to restrict some part of your content, entire section on your website or anything else. You can make it as one time fee, subscription based or make a free trial version with option to subscribe later. This option provides a lot of options for you as you can use any theme with this plugin even those that are not listed here but can be found reviewed on other collection on our website.

Third option would be to use WPLMS, Guru or some other themes that are well suited for online courses. This will provide with less flexibility but you can immediately see what you will get when choosing these themes and you will not need to spend time thinking how you can put all these plugin and scripts together as it just works out of the box.

All comes down to your requirements and personal preferences.

Let me know if you have any other question about these or any other themes listed on Colorlib and I will be happy to help.

  8. Hi Aigars,

Thanks for putting together this comprehensive list. I just bought LearnDas. Do you know if it is compatible with Guru? I have researched and haven’t found any definitive answers yet. I asked LearnDash and they think it should be but they can only confirm compatibility with Sensei. I am trying to find an LMS theme for my online school that is compatible with LearnDash, has all of the functions of Guru or Academy and that uses Tin Can API. There are so many options out there but LearnDash compatibility is key.

Thank you and I look forward to your response!

    1. Sarah,

      Thank you for your question!

Yes, Guru theme will work just fine with LearnDas because this LMS uses WordPress Custom Post Type which basically mirrors your theme post structure. You will have to stick with with course shortcodes to use them inside Guru theme course pages, so you would be able to use all theme design elements for courses. By that I mean “featured courses” grid on front page and on other sections. But still it will get the job done and there won’t be any coding required.

Other themes will get job done for you as well as LearnDas doesn’t need tough integration as you can always stick with shortcodes that you can use in many different ways. It is a really great platform!

Let me know if you have any other questions.

  9. The Creative Light says:

    Aigars,
I am going to create a school, and trying to think of the best theme options. Looking for a theme that has a way for a student to register and pay for a course. At present, the school will offer only on site classes so the website will be there for them to find the classes and register online. But in the future I plan on having on-line classes as well so I would want the theme to have that option when I am ready for it. I have looked at a lot of sites and your list does seem to be the most comprehensive. I am leaning toward WPLMS or Guru but I cannot really tell if either of those sites would work for on-site classes. I also looked at Polytechnic. Also since this is a site primarily for artists I would like a clean simple look. Can you help me with some suggestions as to a good theme. Thankyou for your help, it is greatly appreciated.
    Nancy

    1. Nancy,

      Thank you for your question!

WPLMS is definitely a way to go! You can create on site courses, online courses and even create subscription based courses with recurring payments. This theme is everything you will ever need education related. So far it is the most comprehensive theme out there and nothing comes close.
It features WooCommerce integration for payments which means that you can use any of extensions that will help you with invoicing, accounting, automated messaging and much more. WPLMS is killer combination for education websites of any kind.

Guru theme is nice too but if you are looking for the best theme that can combine everything then WPLMS is the right choice.
Polytechnic is a completely new theme and I am not yet familiar with it. I will make sure to review for next update for this theme collection.

Let me know if you have any other questions about WPLMS or any other theme on this collection.

      1. The Creative Light says:

Thank you so much for your help. It will help me greatly to get started and complete this website. Very appreciated.

      2. Dear Aigar,
Many thanks for your not excellent reviews but also the quality of your comments and help to readers, realy appreciated!
I am planning to launch an online yoga academy, and being familiar with online education as well as WP, and after many tests and reviews, I will probably go for wplms to manage the courses designed with iSpring…
My question now for you: I am looking for a WP professional, familiar and interested by education, to hire as freelancer to manage the development and operation of the technical part of the WP site (long term relationship/ongoing mission), and/or a consultant to advise punctually on best technical choices and integration issues between technologies used for the academy.

Would you personally be interested in such roles/mandates? I would love to work with you based on what I read form you, your skills, dedication and interests…

Thanks for coming back to me, and enjoy the day!
        Yannick

        1. Yannick,

          Thank you for your question!

I would love to work on project like this but unfortunately colorlib does take too much time for me to jump to another project. Everything you see on this websites from free WordPress themes to theme collections and support is maintained by myself and only myself, so it is a lot of work. I am also looking to grow this project to make it leading WordPress themes related resource.

If you need any suggestion about which theme to choose and what plugins to use, please let me know but I will not be able to help with development, management or other task.

          Sorry about that.

  10. Dear Aigars
Which theme do you recommend where I wish to offer free courses, paid for courses, and also a membership option where specific content, forums etc. is only available to members? Possibly paid for courses are available at discounted rates to members.

    1. Martin,

You can’t go wrong by choosing WPLMS WordPress theme which features online and offline course options, paid subscriptions, single purchases and more. This theme is compatible with BuddyPress and bbPress to create forum and community driven websites. This is the most advanced WordPress course and education WordPress theme out there and if this theme is not enough for you then nothing is.

Let me know if you have some more specific questions about WPLMS or any other theme.

  11. Nice collection of themes!! Thanks for sharing this huge collection of education and online course themes. These themes are very pretty and will definitely give a nice look n’ feel to websites.

  12. Hi Aigars,
thank you very much for this. I am looking to build a website for Business Studies Course for High School pupils. I will upload lots of content such as articles, quizzes and videos, as well as event calender. What will you suggest?
    Thanks in advance buddy.

  13. Hi Aigars,

Many thanks for the comprehensive overview. Very interesting. My wife Josien runs a language school in The Hague in The Netherlands with around a 1000 students per year. The courses are mostly face-to-face in small groups with a Moodle digital learning platform for practising at home. The current website of the school is not responsive and we are looking at changing over to a WordPress site. A new site should have a course managment system including online course registration and overviews of upcoming courses, a link to Moodle and ideally a separate section for corporate clients who would like to monitor the progress of the students they have enrolled. Any suggestions for a suitable template? Many thanks in advance.

    1. Jan,

      Sorry for late response!

The only theme that comes close is WPLMS and it has all your mentioned functionality except separate section for corporate clients to monitor results. However, I would still go with this theme and would notify theme developer that you are looking for this kind of functionality and maybe he can implement it in the upcoming updates. The thing is that everything is already there but it needs another user level that wouldn’t be too difficult and time consuming to implement.

Otherwise, there are no better theme than WPLMS as it is the built around advanced learning management system that no theme can offer. Most likely this theme will be used as framework for many upcoming themes which means that you will be able to switch to another theme without losing any data. Right now you will have a really hard time to convert everything from your custom system to WordPress but from there you will be able to take your content with you from one theme to another because WPLMS will definitely grow as a platform.

  14. Hello Aigars
    Couple of questions for you:
I also like the aspect of the stratfort and King Power templates that spell out a 1-2-3-4 approach for you in their horizontal bars. When looking at the demos, I noticed those were below the fold, causing visitors to scroll down before seeing them. Do these templates give you the opportunity to move those to the left sidebar? Here is an example of the layout I like to create, but feel free to eliminate the URL after looking at it, as I’m not trying to send anyone but you over there.

2 I like the robust nature of the WPLMS Learning Management System template, as we are beginning to offer tutorials and entire modules for sale on our site. However, the site is primarily informational for our regular broadcasting training services. Is this template a bit overkill if sales is our secondary purpose?

Thank you in advance for your input.
    Michael

    1. Michael,

None of these themes have exact same functionality like your mentioned template. However, you can make slider images narrower for Kind Power theme, so numbered list will appear above the fold. Images on demo are just an example and you can use any image size, so why not to make them in a way that these numbers would appear above the fold?

Other thing is that WPLMS does have similar functionality below slider as well. While there are no number on demo you can add them to replace icons that you can see right now. These are regular .jpg images and you can use your own images there and those images can be plain number or anything else.
Themes are all about design, structure and some functionality but not about content, images, text, element blocks, because those are just there for demo purpose only and you will have to use your own content. That’s why premium themes comes with Visual Composer (drag & drop page builder ) that you can use to add different elements, in different sizes, in different places, colors and make other necessary changes.

  15. Dear Aigars,

I am in the process to select a LMS Management System to start creating. buying and selling courses online (Safety courses). Looking into the options presented on the above options it seems to be the WPLMS Management System could make it works. Prior visiting this site, I was considering using WP LMS Plug-in by LearnDash and get it integrated with the appropriate WP Theme. Do you consider WPLMS Management System more powerful and complete than WP LMS Plug-in by LearnDash? If so, in what aspects?

Thanks in advance for you feedback.

    Carlos (catcmail)

    1. Carlos,

Both WPLMS Management System and WP LMS Plugin by LearnDash has almost the same functionality and the only difference is that by choosing theme you won’t be able to easily switch to another theme because right now it is the only theme that support this platform. In other hand by using LearnDash you will be able to switch from one theme to another as long as it supports it. Not a deal breaker for most but it is still good to know that.

Also WPLMS theme supports LeadDash plugin. There are some compatibility issues that are pointed out by theme developer but that’s another thing.
There is not “Best” or “Most Advanced” solution out there but the one that feels right for you. You can check demos for both of these platforms to decide which one has everything you need and just go with it. There is no way you will make the wrong decision by choosing either of these because both are great.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

  16. code creator says:

Really Awesome Collection of themes my i get blog best theme for my site with full SEO optimized side and also want to build college site using wordpress. so kindly suggest best themes for me please.

    1. Thank you for your question. If you decide to use WordPress you can be sure that you will get the most SEO benefits possible for a website without requiring to do some code improvements.
For some awesome WordPress themes that have made step further into SEO optimization and includes some advanced and fully search engine friendly markup can be found on this theme collection.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

  17. Aigars, thank you so much for this detailed post and all your equally detailed comment responses. I just read the page top-to-bottom and learned a LOT!

This might be a stupid question– but if a theme is designed as an LMS is it possible to use it ONLY for real-life (i.e in a classroom, not online) courses?

I am strongly considering either WPLMS or the following theme, but the website is for a language school that only offers on-site courses. Could you tell me if it’s possible to remove the “buy now” feature from these themes and just have that button lead to a “contact” or “reserve” page?

Thank you SO much in advance. I’ve been going nuts trying to figure out what seems like a pretty simple question! 🙂

    1. Alice,

WPLMS and other LMS themes can be used for both offline on-site courses as well as online courses. LMS means that you don’t need a separate online course management platform and everything can be managed via WordPress dashboard. This includes course content (videos, learning materials, recommended resources), tests and evaluation in case you need it. These features are only optional and you can stick with basic setup just to list course introduction with a “contact us” button that could lead to contact form or your email. It is up to you. WPLMS theme comes with Visual Composer that allows to build fully customized pages without writing your own code. You can’t go wrong by choosing WPLMS theme for any kind of education related website because of its outstanding flexibility and rich functionality.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

  18. Hi,
Really a exhaustive collection and analysis of the themes. Using the theme simply as off-line class room support system is fine but perhaps it is akin to using a aircraft to drive on the road to office, right? What with such awesome features, right?
But still it will work well with limited scope…thanks…sundar

    1. Sundar,

It might be too much but you can disable any of theme functionality in case you don’t need it (basically you don’t even enable it to start with because WordPress themes by default comes completely blank). It would also make your website future proof in case you decide to start online courses or at use online courses for homeworks or some other activities. You will have this functionality in case you need it.

  19. Hi Aigars,
    Nice collection of themes.
Is there any theme with built in “School Management System” for a High School?

    Thanks

    1. Imran,

It depends what functionality this “School Management System” should have. Overall these themes themes can be divided into two groups:

      1. Online and onsite (offline) course management systems so called Learning Management System (LMS). This kind of themes offers full course management with integrated payments, evaluation system and everything you need to run a successful online education website using a single platform.
      2. Representative websites that works as landing pages for your school with course information, contact information and other related information. It is for representative purposes only with some signup/subscriptions forms and in some cases forum support.

If these two things are now what you are looking for then you are out of luck because there are no other education related themes available for WordPress. In that case you need to find some School Management System and then make it as part of your website.

Let me know if you have any other question.

  20. Nice collection of themes

    Thanks for sharing

  21. Wow.. Nice collection.

I was thinking about creating a next Codecademy and I see that I finally has this opportunity. Online learning courses are booming these days and this is the right time for me to switch my computer education classes completely online as I have noticed that more and more people ask for online courses as they are busy doing other things than taking classes on exact time each day.

  22. Hi,

There are several very interesting themes here. Is it possible that I try working with a theme and then if I like it I buy it?

    1. Hey,

You can check demos that are available and some of those demo also include admin preview. However, you can’t install these themes on your own server before you purchase it. The thing is that once you install theme there is no way to revoke access to this theme which means that developers have no way to check if you have ever made a purchase or not.

  23. Hi Aigars,

Which Theme would you suggest for an online modular language course (running from beginners to advanced) where payments are made per module as the student learns more – consumes more content? Desired features: quizzes (accessible through a mobile app), video tutorials, downloadable pdf and audio files, monitored forum for peer to peer comments. Overall minimum teacher intervention.

Thank you in advance for your suggestions,
    Sandra

    1. Sandra,

      Thank you for your question!

WPLMS theme is the one you are looking for. It is the most popular LMS theme for WordPress and also the most flexible one. WPLMS has everything you will need to create online modular language course website without touching a code. Other themes doesn’t come close.

Let me know if you have any other questions about LMS or any other WordPress themes.

  24. Awesome LMS themes! Thinking about starting the next Udacity.

    1. Fery,

Thank you for your feedback and good luck with creating the next Udacity! Let me know when you new website is online and I will be happy to share it on social networks.

  25. Saqib Qayyum says:

    Hi,

Is there any theme that could incorporate quizzes, multiple question options, grading etc ; actually i need a theme to launch a online GRE test preparation website.

please recommend if there are any themes that could account for all these features.

    1. Saqib,

WPML is the theme you are looking for. It does have an built in quizzes, multiple question options, grading and much more. It’s the only tool you will ever need to create a professional and unique online course website.

  26. Dumitru Brinzan says:

    Good collection of themes.
It would be great if you could update the list with some of the themes from AcademiaThemes dot com 🙂

  27. which is the best for elementary/Middle school, Do you have tools for lunch services; updating menus, volunteer sign ups, teacher postings with passwords etc.

    1. Maria,

For Elementary/Middle school websites I can recommend ParkCollege and Statfort themes. The rest of the functionality are already built-in WordPress and shouldn’t be a problem. For additional functionality you can always look for plugins on https://wordpress.org/plugins/

  28. Great Themes Aigars!
One question: what would be the best theme for a website that reviews business schools? I just need something responsive, good looking that requires minimal tweaks ( no tech savvy here 🙂 )

    1. David,

      Thank you for your comment!

These themes are well suited for education related such as school, university, online source and other related website. They have specific functionality such as pricing tables, signup forms, member are etc. which is something you won’t need for business school reviews.

While all these features can be disabled and most of them are disabled by default I would personally suggest looking at theme like these that already have review system built in. That way you will get star rating system that will be directly visible in Google search result pages.

Here you can see these star rating in Google search:
      Google Star Rating

Of course there are several plugin that could turn above listed education related themes into review sites but for non tech savvy I would recommend to choose one that comes with this system pre-installed.

If star rating is now crucial then you can choose almost any theme above and use its blog functionality and visual composers to create blog style website with reviews.

But it really all comes down to how you would like to style your website and how you are going to structure content. Some universal themes from this list are Statfort, King Power and Guru that will provide you with freedom to create completely unique layout and functionality via their built in Visual page builders.

Let me know if you have any other questions regarding these themes.

  29. michaelfanous says:

Thanks for the suggestions. I am looking to creating a school, and trying to think of the best theme options. Looking for a theme that has a way for a student to register for a course, as soon as they are registered and paid for the course, they should be able to login and see the course documents, syllabus, turn in assignments, watch a live stream if needed. The other part of a theme is having the instructors able to control and post material for their own courses. Suggestions?

    1. Michael,

      Thank you for your question!

WPLMS theme does everything you mentioned and much more by default. It functions as full online course management system.

But any of themes listed below can be combined with plugins such as s2Member and Restrict Content Pro.

These plugins will allow to create membership levels and provide access to paid member are as well as limit access time when their subscription ends. Restrict Content Pro is much more advanced and allows more customization options to get the results you were looking for.

Let me know if you have any other questions regarding these themes.

  30. I was searching the best theme For my project purpose.

Thanks for sharing a great collection

    1. Hello Aditya,

      Thank you for your feedback!

Which theme did you choose and why? If you haven’t decided yet, please let me know your requirements and I will come up with some suggestions for you.

  31. Muhammad Awais says:

I like your theme collection especially EDUpress theme is amazing.

  32. Great themes ! But I used Catch Everest Theme on my education website. It is also good and easy customization.

  33. Hi Aigars,

Is there any WP LMS available to support SCORM AND AICC? I have checked many themes but I have not been able to get one in full compliance?

Would you please advise what options are available? My content provider primary use AICC.

    Thanks,

    1. Carlos,

Unfortunately, there aren’t a single theme that supports SCORM and AICC. They are very niche targeted therefore theme developers aren’t interested in creating such themes. It is a much better idea for developers to target broader audience.

  34. Coachdiary says:

Can you recommend any themes for a Sports After School?

    1. Any theme from this collection will get the job done. The main thing here is to choose the right functionality that you need such as event calendar, teams, signup form gallery or other. However, all these things can be enabled by using some free WordPress plugins, so it is not so big deal if some of these features are missing by default and you can look what really matters in themes – their design.

  35. Hi,
Thanks for the great list. I am feeling overwhelmed my the wide variety of themes. Dont think it is possible to try out so many.

I have a static website and we offer on site training only. Could u suggest 2 or 3 best suited themes for classroom type courses like on our website.

Your help and suggestions are really appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Vin

    1. Vin,

All above listed WordPress themes works perfectly fine wit online and offline courses. If I have to highlight some then those would be Invent, Masterstudy and WPLMS. In no particular order as all of them are great themes.

  36. I have just set up WP site and looking for a theme. My elearning mission is to work with individual development outside of the structured school setting.

    Tutorial, self improvement, etc.

Have looked at Education Academy, but do not know if Sensei or Learndash is compatible?

also concerned with there support, do not find any tutorial on youtube.com for them.

    please email your reply, thanks.

    1. Hello Chee,

Invent is the only theme on this list that properly supports Learndash. There are some others such as WPLMS but Invent does have a better integration. Sensei platform is supported by Guru and LMS themes. Your mentioned Education Academy doesn’t support any of them.

  37. which theme will be suitable for website providing IAS tips and exams solutions etc…

    1. Manisha,

It sounds that you are looking for a very simple functionality that will require only blog and static pages. Therefore any of above listed themes will work perfectly fine for you. Just make sure to choose the one you like the most from design perspective. All functionality that are included with themes and are not necessary in your case, you can keep disabled.

  38. The collection of the education templates for WordPress is really beautiful…

  39. I intend to build a training course listing website. I want a wordpress theme that can allow training providers to list their courses and prospective student will have a profile on the website to also search and apply for the courses. I don’t need a e-learning platform, just courses listing and search database. Training providers and learners both will have access to upload their information on the website. It will be a meeting point for both institutions and prospective learners. Is there a wordpress theme for this?

    1. Kenny,

There aren’t any specific WordPress theme for that. However, since WordPress by default allows users to register using different user level you can use any theme to get similar functionality. It is all about how you are going to structure content and what functionality you will provide to both user levels. This can be controlled via various plugins.

While there are any such themes it would be relatively easy to build one using some regular multipurpose theme and some plugins.

      1. Gurvinder says:

Its been a year so i thought to ask the above question again.
Is there a theme which can be used to build a College Listing/Directory ?
        Thanks

        1. Gurvinder,

Theme developers aren’t keen to develop themes for so specific cases because there is a tiny market for them. All directory themes that we have now are easy to customize to be used for any purpose. Here you can find the best examples.

  40. Sangam Adhikari says:

Hi Aigars, i am looking for wordpress themes to build a website for a school where i graduated first. since it is a simple school i don’t need any advance type of themes so can you please suggest me any theme that will give info and all things about the school.

    Thank you

    1. Sangam,

It depends on functionality that you are looking for. If it is going to be a plain text with some images it might be enough to use some free WordPress theme such as these. If you need some more advanced functionality then you might want to check some of these multipurpose themes. If you are going to list courses/programs or some similar content, then above listed themes are going to be the right bet.

  41. Hello Aigars,

I need your advice on what theme I need to use. Basically, the site is for one one vocational course for authority audit. Once approved for that one course, then, additional courses will be put on the site slowly up to 6 vocational qualifications/courses.

You recommended WPLMS but from your list above, I like the LMS theme the most because of the OUR PROCESS interactive on the demo page. For LMS Home page, I don’t need all other parts except that Full Width Slider and Our Process. But the downside of LMS is Sensei because I think Sensei cannot do multi-tier learning management compared to LearnDash. From what I gathered LearnDash can do complex learning management system. But I also learned other LMS like WPCourseware.com, Bright plugin.

What I want is the look of LMS theme with full width slider and the OUR Process Interactive but with LMS that can manage delivering unit lessons and assessments using multiple choice, question and answer, true/false and other types of quizzes.

With lots of choices, I am confused but can you please recommend one?

    Thanks for your help.

    1. Maria,

Since you are looking for LearnDash integration and theme with full width slider then you can go with Invent theme. Both of these things are there by default and other features are very similar to WPLMS theme.

  42. What type of templates will be best for the website
Plz do suggest and reply to my mail.
This site basically provides different study notes explaining the terms for a student from a science background and many more such stuffs

    1. Hello Deep!

Since you are using a simple blog theme then you can either continue to use another blog theme or upgrade to some magazine themes such as these. If you have some more specific requirements in mind, please let me know and will try to help you from there.

  43. Is there a theme you can recommend that has enables registered users to check their result(educational theme). it also permits the teachers to input individual student results and it can all be collated into one data for the students.

    1. Randy,

All LMS (Learning management system) theme comes with this functionality. However, they comes with full course and quiz management. None of these themes have just grades section without extra functionality.

  44. I am looking to develop online training courses using templates and Video examples for both clients and providers
I need to ensure I approve those registering for the course first before giving them access. I there a way for me to authenticate the registrant, deny them access etc before letting them do a course…..Also, for a client who may have 20 team members, with payment processes, is there a group payment plan for courses……in the pay per view course structure….. and also, can the system protect against users downloading the course for their own internal use…..? Thank you

    1. Phil,

For fully functional LMS (learning management system) WordPress themes please see this theme collections. But before that research Sensei by WooThemes and LearnDash. Those are two platforms that most LMS themes support and very little functionality comes from themes themselves. Themes are all about design and some light functionality but course management comes from platforms such as my mentioned Sensei and LearnDash.
For both of these platforms there are available admin demos and you can see what you will be able to do with those platforms.

  45. Hi Aigars,
Thanks a lot for this intense article.
Please I want to create a website for a school where teachers can send assignments to students and students can connect with each other, etc. Simple put, I want it to be like the school on the web. Please which of the listed themes can best give these functionalities and how can it be done.
    Thanks

    1. Aaron,

I think that Invent theme is the one that you are looking for. It is based on LearnDash Learning Management System and I would recommend to research if it has the functionality and design that you are looking for. In this case Invent serves as layout and most of the heavy lifting is done by my mentioned LearnDash LMS. It is a very flexible online course management system and the most popular one that there is but still might not be for everyone.

  46. Hello colorlib and Aigars, what a nice article. I decided to try “LMS” by designthemes on envato. Can you please update your article to point out that they do not offer refunds? Their product is incredibly robust but is a nightmare to set up for even an intermediate user – the install is easy as normal, but after that you are on your own in a sea of thousands of options and no easy setup. Figured no worries, not the theme for me… but then found out they do not offer refunds at all.

PS here is a really good article covering something simpler like just selling courses online, wish I had thought to look for something like this first! To get to your article I googled “best online course themes”.

    Cheers, Victoria

    1. Victoria,

I am sorry to hear about your experience. Keep in mind that no theme developer who sells themes on Themeforest/Envato offers refunds because payments are handled via Themeforest/Envato and developers have no option to offer refunds. The reason why Envato doesn’t offer refunds is plain simple – piracy. There are no protection for themes when it comes to piracy. Once you get an access to theme you can send it over to your friends, publish online and do any other thing. Of course it is copyright infringement but theme developers are too small to do anything about it. There are thousands of websites that promotes so called nulled themes and doing refunds would help these sites to earn money without paying for themes as they could buy them and get a refund afterwards.

Of course you are now in a bad situation but there is always two sides of the story and now you know both.

  47. Thank you for such an amazing resource. I am however confused which theme I might need so I will explain what I am planing to do. We will be launching a 6 month course . There will be only one course, on one subject which will be joined at the start date. The course will have 7 to 8 modules, which will be worked through from one to another. One module will not be released until a start date set by us. Within these 8 modules there will we several sections (sub modules) and with these specific lessons or topics. Also within the site we would like to create

    1. A forum where members can talk to each other with the course
    2. A gallery area where each member can upload their images for all to see on the course, and have the ability to connect with the other members
    3. The ability for projects to be set by us and students upload the results that we can give feedback on, also the ability to do this for all students to see this and benefit from the feedback
    4. The ability to split all the students down into smaller self supporting groups

Which theme do you think would suit this best, I have been looking at WPLMS, Invent, Guru, LMS, Social learner and I own clever course (but don’t think it has the social forum abilities or the depth, but I do like the design ?). Design is important as the course will need to be stylist due to content. I would like the design to be simple and clean.

If you had to pick one theme for our needs what would you recommend

Another question is would Sensi , Learndash or WPLMS be able to deliver this kind of multilayer in modules we require.. So only one course .. 8 modules ..then submodules within the 8 and then specific lessons with those

Also which offer strong content protection and how does that work

Any help or insight you could add would be amazing

  48. Steve Sims says:

I often find your results in the search engines when I am looking for themes and just wanted to say “thank you” for this post which has been particularly useful research for me due to a School project I am involved with. It certainly helps cut down on my research time…

On the list above, Academica Pro gets my vote.

    1. Steve,

      Thank you for your feedback!

Content is the king in SEO and we have done that part right as our articles are well researched and some of them are around 10,000 words long with loads of images, videos and other rich media. Therefore you can see our website on Google search for many competitive keywords sometimes outranking authority websites such as WordPress.org and WordPress.com. Colorlib is still a new website and we have just started and hopefully we can do a lot more with this website.

      1. Steve Sims says:

Thanks – I’d be interested to know how you do your keyword research/long tail term targeting, etc….Maybe a topic for a future post perhaps 🙂

        1. Steve,

You might be surprised but we don’t do any keyword research at all. We listed into our readers and create content based on that. If we receive a lot of questions about hotel booking or vacation booking themes we create dedicated theme collections on those. And the same thing for any other topic. Of course there aren’t themes for every niche but we explain that on comment section and it works as future reference for others.

On this blog we won’t cover any SEO related topics as we are using completely different approach than the entire SEO industry. We are content creators and that’s what we do best. We don’t care about keyword research, link building, properly styled meta tags and anything else related to SEO. Content and organic growth is a way to go.

  49. Dear Aigars,
Thank you for this extremely descriptive and helpful tour of LMS possibilities. Perhaps you can steer me in the right direction for what I want to do; both themes and plugins/combinations. I hope you receive commission from your links and will definitely make sure to use those as my way of thanking you for your time and help.

I have developed a series of in-person 4-12 week health programs (everything from anti-inflammatory diets to weight loss to…) so not really courses per se. I’ve also had requests to sell these programs from many of my peers (I have massive clinical and research background and they trust me). These programs flow using a sequence of information sent each participant via email at a certain number of days from when they start. The emails direct steps for each participant to take on a gradient. The program is further individualized for each participant by having them send reports back to their assigned “instructor” (currently just me; I currently use Contact Form 7 and structured report forms but these could also be “quizzes” as long as I can change that word). I currently respond to those reports via email sent back to that individual participant–so perhaps a “help desk” functionality? We currently meet weekly, locally, but I could replace that engagement with a forum or perhaps facebook group.

I believe setting these programs up for online participation and engagement would follow a course module system quite nicely. Here’s what I want it to do:
    1. *Not* use the word course or course module or instructor everywhere, so must be able to use custom text for labels

once payment is received (I currently use woocommerce connected to PayPal for simplicity)
    2. allow participants to sign up under specific instructors who are assigned to specific programs; then direct-send payment to that instructor’s paypal account or track instructor “commission” (I am considering a membership structure where my hand-picked instructors pay me fixed sum to offer my online programs to their clients. Instructors would keep any/all revenue they generate and guide their own clients–I want to brand and be able to update each program without having individual copies all over the place–that’s my reason for wanting the programs centrally located–but I don’t really want the accounting headache of an affiliate commission platform. I hope that makes sense and am happy to hear your thoughts)
    3. have drip feed–emails that are not the course modules, per say, but that are sent on a daily/weekly… schedule to all course participants based on when they start the program and announce that the new material is now available… here’s the link to the report you are to send in… etc.
    4. allow instructors to easily monitor “course” progress (probably based on start date?)
    5. keep privacy where instructors cannot see each other’s student work
    6. allow me access to all instructor/student correspondence so I can help debug anything I need to (an admin role)

Thoughts? and thank you in advance

  50. Very nice themes. Thank you very much! I’ve tried a few of them (the top ones) and was very surprised you got a collection for Kid’s schools.

    Keep up the good work!

    1. Binh,

Thank you for your feedback! I highly appreciate it! If you need any help selecting the right theme for your website please let me know your requirements and will try to help you from there.

  51. hi algars
i have designed a tutor site and my client wants to implement a responsive quiz app feature with fairly detailed metrics with push notify. metrics would include obviously test score, elapsed test time, multiple choice, math formulas, student analytics etc

  52. Hemant Kumar says:

Anyone can register as a student or teacher in any theme ? Teacher can upload video himself or not ? Where is payment system in theme ? Live teaching is possible in any theme ?

    1. Hemant,

Above listed themes are not that flexible but we have another list that covers LMS (Learning Management System) themes. You can find them here. These themes comes with LearnDash integration that offers versatile course management functionality.

  53. Hi,Please recommend a site for computer science notes/tutorial.I would like to make a site/blog for Computer Networking. It should well organize chapters, should also include video in post also review option for recommended book.
    Thanks in advance

    1. I don’t think that you are really looking for an education themes as all above ones are for online courses, schools, kindergartens and so on. In your case I would recommend to start with a blog theme and some free WordPress review plugin. From there you can understand what else is missing and use plugins for that.

  54. Emily Johns says:

An excellent collection of education WordPress themes. Every theme designed beautifully with awesome features. I am feeling most encouraged to see Divi theme in your collection.

    1. Emily,

I am surprised how hard you are trying to drop some links in our comment section. All comments are being moderated to reduce promotion content as we are here for valuable discussions that adds value to our readers and WordPress community as a whole.

    1. Naveen,

In your case I would switch away your concept form Paid Membership Pro plugin and would would go with a fully working LMS platforms such as these.

  56. Hello Aigars:
    Thank you for compiling list.

I suggest that you stop recommending themes which include Visual Composer and Revolution Slider.

Visual Composer shortcodes are a nightmare, when client wants to change theme.

Clients rarely buy and upgrade either plugin. Sites crash, or are hacked with old version of Revolution slider.

    Best wishes,
    Mitchell

  57. Hi

We mainly need to be able to:
    1. List schools, colleges, universities and private entities that offer any form of education formal or otherwise.
    2. List the courses that they offer with brief description.
    3. Be able to categories these courses for e.g. short course, full time, part time, degree, diploma, etc.
    4. The courses should be searchable for type of things such as course type, duration, location, and cost.

The aim is for students to have a one stop shop to find info on all their educational needs/choices.

  58. I am working with a small private elememtary school to create a web site for a wide range of purposes and looking for some feedback. The list above looks great and I am overwhelmed by which to choose. There are approximately 100 students at the school in grades k-6th. Here are some of the outcomes we are trying to fulfill:

    1. Utilize the website to promote the school, events and introduce potential students to our teachers and staff.

    2. Be able to view the student handbook, fill out student forms, and view items like lunch menus, class pages and keep up to date with school happenings.

    3. Be able to pay tuition statements and lunch accounts online.

    4. Be able to view student information and allow parents to see updated grades and assignments and weekly newsletters in a secure portal.

    5. Collect track and maintain alumni information to reach out for fundraisers and donations and to update them on happenings.

    6. Feature an interactive calendar that would allow users to choose specific categories of activitiesto download directly to their personal google, outlook or icalendars.

Initially from my research I was leaning towards wplms because of its functionality and I found it to be very visually pleasing and interactive. However after reading this review it specifically says it will not work for a standard school or college website so I am unsure now. I would greatly appreciate any assistance. Thank you in advance!

  59. Any theme recommendation for government websites?

  60. I need a template that can handle a list of items, say contacts of schools, scholarships, etc. Which theme or plugins will you suggest that can handle this, especially listing, searches etc

  61. Hello,

I am looking for a way to have both group and one-on-one tutoring online. I want simultaneous classes where tutors go into the classroom and the tutors teach using a whiteboard and audio. I also would like to track the student’s progress if I can. Any recommendations on a theme and additional plugins that may be needed?

  62. Hi Aigars,

Thanks for your awesome collection! I am finding a scalable and easy-to-use WP plugin that is small enough to build an LMS but has various additional add-on.

I found some plugins like LearnPress, LearnDash, … Could you please take a short review about all of them?

    Thanks in advance,

    1. Giap,

Most of LMS WordPress themes are based on LearnDash and it is regarded as the best platform for LMS style websites. LearnPress is very new platform and not well tested and supported by theme developers. It might become a big thing some day but it could go out of the business just as fast. You can’t be certain at this early stage of development.

  63. Really nice collection of themes. Can you please recommend me a few themes for a Quiz website? I am about to create a quiz website for my University which shall have Quizzes on all subjects of different programs and users can choose their program and than their subject and choose from lecture wise quizzes etc.
The scores should be recorded for their previous attempts and they could also improve it by retaking.
Does LMS theme supports such functionality?
    Please give me some suggestions.
    Thank you

  64. Geoff Zimpfer says:

    Aigars,

Why would I need one of the LMS themes and LearnDash? Don’t they do the same things? Albeit, the LMS themes you point out all seem more robust than LearnDash in the area of templated course pages. I’ve been using Optimize Press but it has design limitations re: course page masonry layout etc.

    1. Geoff,

Most of the LMS templates are based on LearnDash. Themes does apply skins for LearnDash making it blend well with theme’s overall design.

      1. Geoff Zimpfer says:

        Aigars,

Are you saying the LMS themes on you list all have LearnDash integrated already? I like the EDU LMS for my overall needs because of the template course pages, icons etc. In looking at that theme, it looks like I would only need to add a membership plugin to protect content, add various member levels like LearnDash, Optimize Press or Memberium for example.

        Agree?

  65. I am a physics teacher in a high school in Greece, trying to set up a new website for our school. I posted my request some 10 days ago, but I cannot even see it posted publicly yet. Is it still at the moderator’s Procrustean bed? (Probably, there has been some technical problem with my registration, as I did not even seem registered, so I registered again). Not having kept the original post, I shall try to repeat myself:
Here are the virtues we would like our site to possess:
    a. It will be written mainly in Greek (there will be an English translation of some parts of the site)
    b. We need it to be light on resources, because the site will be hosted in a slow public school host
    c. In the long run, the site will be enriched with lesson notes, podcasts (or even video casts) from school teachers, who are not very familiar with IT.
    d. Moreover, teachers will upload students’ grades and absences information, which is to be seen only by the parents of each student, by the use of a password or code assigned to each of them.
    e. Never shall we ask for money from anyone for anything, so no e-commerce is needs.
    f. Fresh and enticing photo and video galleries of our school activities
g I do not know to code
    h. Our budget is limited to less than 200 $
I would be really indebted to you, should you give me your expert advice on which template(s) you would recommend.

    Best Regards,
    Tasos

    1. Tasos,

I would recommend to start exploring WordPress using a free WordPress themes such as these. That will get you and idea what you need and what not.
Also most of the themes does support Greek language but multilingual functionality might be a bit tricky to setup. The best plugin is WPML but it is a paid plugin.

For galleries you can use many of free WordPress plugins that you can find on WordPress plugin repository.

Your point “D” is going to be rather difficult as usually schools use Moodle (open source platform) for this kind of information. Some themes listed above that comes with LearnDash integration has similar grading functionality but they are better suited for online courses and not regular schools. Therefore some other platform might be a better fit for you.

While you can create a WordPress website for free you are going to face some problems along the way that won’t be possible to resolve even when using premium themes because functionality is just not there.

      1. Aigars,
Thank you very much on your reply, which is as usual consistent and reliable.
        Best Regards,
        Tasos

        1. Tasos,

Thank you for your feedback! And sorry that I couldn’t help to solve your problem completely.

  66. great collection! So I have a question that i have been wondering, I noticed that all the themes above for education are for online courses but what if you actually have a local business that sells classes that you can go to take in-person? can you still use the free woocommerce plugin to sell classes that are not online? and do i have to use any paid special add-ons of woocommerce?

    thanks!

    1. Shina,

You can sell courses via website regardless if they are online or local courses. Default payment methods for WooCommerce has PayPal integration that can be used with credit and debit cards. There are loads of other add-ons available to add more payment methods to the mix such as Stripe which comes a free add-on as well.

  67. I am looking to build a scholarship website that pulls scholarship resources from various sources using keywords. Can you recommend a theme I could use or can you help me develop a custom template for that?

    1. Dixon,

It sounds that you need a programmer either way as WordPress on its own is not going to pull scholarship information from other sources than your database. We don’t do custom development for clients as these days it is all about themes.
The best places to find a developer are Upwork. Once you find a developer he will definitely have some suggestions for themes to use or in your case you might need to create everything from scratch. It all depends on developer and your exact needs.

  68. Looking to build a school that is both virtual and physical (IE has both online and brick and motor classes)… and have found this review to be fantastic. Thank you. Out of all the themes which would you say is the most comprehensive?

    Cheers,
    Gregory

    1. Gregory,

My personal recommendation to combine online wit regular courses are Education WP, WPLMS and themes. Both are very popular and comprehensive themes.

  69. Hi Aigars,

Thanks for a very interesting read and collection. I am looking forward to have a site which can possibly do following:

    1. Built for educational training courses, initially on a classroom model and later to go online in few months time.

    2. Trainees could have complete course details and have a full flow from information details to buying the courses or having further inquiries from the website, so all the integrations present for the purchase and payments with registration details storing system.

    3. Possibility to upload demo audio (podcast) and small videos for the courses introduction. Later to have complete videos on an LMS.

    4. Have an integrated Membership system for trainees to register/buy online trainings for specific time period as per the payment for that duration, set by the administrator.

    5. Capable of keeping the database of the interested trainees and registrants.

    6. Social media connectivity.

    7. Site security from hackers and from the registrants.

    8. SEO possibility.

    9. Easy development and possible migration anytime later.

I am new to this all so have stipulated things in a random manner. Can you please advise what do we mean by WooCommerce Ready and any other things READY? Does that mean they are ABLE to be integrated or they are ALREADY integrated?

I am looking for the best advice for the best theme which can do the above.

    Many thanks in advance.

    Asim

    1. Aim,

LMS style WordPress themes can be found here.
WooCommerce ready means that it already works with WooCommerce but since WooCommerce is a plugin you need to install it separately. You just need to download and activate it and theme will do the rest but WooCommerce is not directly bundled with any of these themes and is held separate. The main thing is that it works and works well with WooCommerce and there is absolutely no work involved.

SEO and Migration is not something you should be concerned about as all themes are built for WordPress and as we know WordPress is the most SEo friendly platform that there is. Migration is also very simple because all hosting providers supports WordPress and you just need take files and database with you and you are good to go.

Website security depends on your hosting provider and services that you use to secure your website. For security purpose we use Sucuri but there are other similar service providers out there. When it comes to hosting never choose shared hosting and go with managed WordPress hosting such as WP Engine if you really care about security and performance.

  70. DN Shastri says:

Wow! An excellent collection of education WordPress themes. Every theme designed beautifully with awesome features. I am feeling most encouraged to see Divi theme in your collection. Thanks very much.

  71. Aigars… Are you available to customize a theme such as the WPLMS… and if so what is the best way to contact you with specifics/ pricing?

    Thanks!
    Gregory

  72. Hello Aigers,

I need a suitable WordPress template suggestion that supports the following features,

–>Need to list different online course videos under different categories.
–>Subscription feature setup where user must subscribe the plan to watch videos.
–>Authors registration and post their training videos under specific categories and they get paid based on their videos viewed.

Can you help you out in this?

    Looking forward!.

    Thanks,
    Logesh E.

    1. Logesh,

The best place to find Learning Management System (LMS) themes such as one you described is here. These themes does exactly what you described.

  73. Hi Aigars,
Do you have any recommendations as to programmers who can customize the sites above? I’m specifically interested in using either Education WP, or WPLMS.

    Thank you.

    Gregory

  74. Sansar Lochan says:

Thank you for these wonderful themes

  75. Could you please recommend themes for English Club?

  76. Please which theme would you recommend for electronic law reporting. A theme that will be suitable for creating latest court judgments for legal students, professional and academic. The website will be subscription based i.e customers will have to pay to view its contents. However there will be limited viewing for non-paid viewers and also a month free subscription to attract subscribers.
security of content so it is not downloadable.
I check themes under knowledge base and education. I would like you one that is suitable.

    1. Kuti,

There aren’t any that specific themes and in your case I would recommend some multipurpose theme that you can customize in a way you want.

  77. Hi,

I have been searching for a course theme thats actually should be simpler than the ones here. We want to sell onsite courses, and its always to business. We want a good looking and functional search and nice display of the results. We dont need any user management really, we will just add a book now button which essentially send us an email. We want to keep this site simple, and can live without all fancy pages.

In the search we would like to have more options than just keyword and category, like place and date is important.

I have been looking around and cant find any good themes or options. Either its LMS, way to much, or themes for Universities and Colleges. Or themes for creating and publishing online courses. Do you know any theme suitable?

    Regards,
    Bjorn

    1. Bjorn,

I would go with LMS themes because of their better search and categories. You can use them without 3rd party plugins for course management and just add a single button for booking. Here are some examples.

  78. Hi Aigars,

I am planning to build an educational website same as UDEMY, what themes will you recommend?

    Thanks

    1. Roel,

To build Udemy style website you will need a different kind of themes that are built specially for course management. The best examples you can find here.

  79. Hi Aigars,

It is me again. I am looking for a theme to build a marketplace website for:
    1- In person tutoring,

    Thanks

  80. Louay Haji says:

First, let me thank you for this great collection. I would really appreciate it if you could an idea about a theme that has the features of a magazine theme (slider, latest posts from different categories o the homepage) and at the same supports LMS and has appropriate functionality that supports online courses.

The thing is, we are going to start to build community for the website first by sharing lots of content then we aim to start our online courses. Any advice will be much appreciated.
    Thank you

    1. Louay,

All themes comes with blog section that you can use on the front page of your website. You can also use LearnDash LMS with some magazine style themes.

      1. Louay Haji says:

Many thanks for your kind and quick answer. Having a magazine theme that supports LearnDash is really a good idea. I have checked the list and unfortunately I could not find a magazine theme that supports LearnDash, LearnPress or Sensei. Could you please recommend one or two magazine themes that support one of the above mentioned LMS Plugins. We would be truly grateful to you.

        Many thanks

        1. Louay,

LearnDash can be used with any WordPress theme. Themes that have specific support for LearnDash usually have specially designed landing page and some custom design applied to LearnDash itself. But these are optional things for LearnDash and it will work perfectly fine with out them.

          1. Louay Haji says:

Many thanks indeed. You saved us a lot of efforts and time.

  85. Hi Aigars,

Which is the best theme if I want login option along with the ability to change language between English and Arabic.
If there is no such theme then please suggest appropriate plugins.
    Many thanks

    1. Take,

Login and user registration can be enabled for any theme. It is default WordPress functionality and you can use it with any theme.
For multilingual website setup we recommend using WPML plugin. You can read more about WPML here.

  86. Hi Aigars,

    Thanks so much for this.

I’m wondering how these work with CoursePress.

Will some functions collide? I’m trying to set up a site that allows my parents and teachers to check students’ attendance, class progress, and pay for lessons online.

    Thanks again!

    Regards,

    Justin

    1. Justin,

This is the best one that works well with CoursePress. Others might work just as well, but we haven’t properly tested them.

  87. Cheryl Barnett says:

    Hello Algars,

I’m needing a theme for a Christian School that has pre-school through 12th grade. They want teachers to be able to enter grades and parents to access report cards and perhaps make payments. I’m a bit overwhelmed. Can you suggest something? I’d like it to be bright and eye catching as well as functional.

    Thank you!

    Cheryl

  88. Hi Aigars,

Thnx for the list. But i have one question. Do all the themes listed above support learndash as a plugin? So, am i able to choose any theme i want, if i want to work with learndash? From what i’ve seen is that learndash is just the plugin, right? So we still need a wordpress theme to go with it.

    1. Mark,

We have a dedicated list of themes that supports Learndash and you can find them here. Learndash can be used with any WordPress theme but the ones we have selected have a custom styling applied to make it look more as part of the design.

  89. Deepthy CHandrashekhar says:

    Hi there,

I am looking at a website, which can archive courses we do for others to use as well. I want it to be minimalistic and to the point. Please help!

    1. Deepthy,

For that you need so called Learning Management System (LMS) based themes. The best ones you can find here.

  90. Much obliged for your marvelous gathering! I am finding an adaptable and simple to-utilize WP module that is sufficiently little to manufacture a LMS however has different extra.

I discovered some modules like LearnPress, LearnDash, … Could you please take a short survey about every one of them?

    Much obliged ahead of time.

  91. Hi there, Thanks for this. Remarkable attention to detail. So much so, I’m a little overwhelmed at the number of choices. Can you tell me which theme would be best for workshops and events based in multiple locations? I’m particularly interested in themes that have back end course and event management that doesn’t need to use the wordpress dashboard/backend. Also curious to know your opinion as to which of the LMSystems you find to be the most comprehensive and capable of expansion.

    Thanks!

  92. Hi,
can you please advice me, I want to have course and best also event theme but with submission form….that companies can add courses and events…best will be for free adding but with commission….if it is possible…but that is not neccessary…thank you 🙂

  93. Hello there,

Does Education WP also support LearnDash if you choose to use it over LearnPress? Also, does Education WP allow for different blog displays and blog customization? I cannot see much information on their demo. I am looking for a visually appealing template with much functionality that can work with an LMS.

    Thanks!

    Hello,

I would like to build a website for our international education agency. Through the website, we would like to publish info about the country, visa, education type ( language schools, universities etc.), prices, school videos & digital brochures etc.
Which theme may you suggest best suitable for us?
    Thanks

    1. Oya,

I think that either some directory themes or multipurpose themes would be a much better fit for you. You are not building a traditional education website but informative website. That way multipurpose or directory themes might work better.

  95. neil atkin says:

    Hi There

Im looking at building a site for a non profit educational training company that advertises trainers and courses and has a search facility for courses and categories and displays events. Courses dont need to be booked online through the site at the moment
    Any suggestions welcome
    Thanks Neil

    1. Neil,

Any of above listed themes will work. Even themes that claims to be for Online courses can be used for offline courses. Theme demos are used to showcase all the functionality but you aren’t obligated to use most of it. You can start with a blank canvas and enable only those things that you will actually need.

  96. Hi, thank you for this very informative list.

Does WPLMS support a course platform where other instructors can upload and create their own courses on my site, too, without going into the back end? (ie, like Udemy or Skillshare)

Also, what hosting would you recommend for an endeavor like that?

    Thank you!

    1. Dina,

By using any theme you can allow other instructor to register and upload their own courses. The key here is to use a different user levels such as Administrator, Editor, Author and so on. For example Authors technically will see a similar backend like you but they will have two options – edit their profile and publish new content and nothing more. They won’t see any setting, plugins, other users or anything else important.

  97. Muy buena recopilación para utilizar en mis trabajos de diseño web con Divi 😉

  98. Shout Me Crunch says:

Thanks, Colorib, for suggesting a couple of themes for an educational website. When we will consider educational website, the main focus is to keep the site minimal as possible with high loading speed with higher Google page speed score. Most of the time you described here is as good as Google page speed score is above 90.

  101. This is a great list but it seems to include mostly templates that can be used for any purpose, not just educational. I was hoping this list would be strictly educational sites only. So question: what theme would you recommend for a website for a professor? One of my clients is a professor at the University of Florida and wants a site for the courses he teaches and for personal blogging, showcasing books he’s written, etc.

    Thanks!

  102. Hi Aigars,

thank you for this training themes compilation 🙂 you must’ve put lot of effort into it! But anyway, I don’t think I have found something for me.

My company provides onsite classes. We don’t have any online courses. We only invite people to our building and we conduct training for them (e.g. SQL training). We have regular trainings, so one training takes place many times.

We need a WordPress theme with classes listing with schedules. For example, you choose SQL classes on the listing, SQL site opens and you see description and schedule (e.g. 10th July, 17th July, 24th July).

    Which theme would you recommend?

    1. Many themes can easily accommodate onsite coursers. For example WPLMS, Education WP (maybe event option for this one would work even better than course section itself) or Kingster. But most other themes will work just as well.
